William Charles Hill

William (Bill) Charles Hill, age 92 of Maryville, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maude Walker and Frank Earl Hill as well as his sister Mary Jo Slate. Bill is survived by his wife of 75 years Marjorie Hill and son James (Cathy) Hill. Bill was born April 19, 1933, in Carthage, Missouri and his family moved to Knoxville in 1937. Bill was a member of Knoxville High School’s last graduating class in 1951. Following high school, Bill attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and graduated with a BS in Engineering in 1955. Most of his career, Bill worked on hardware and software development and support of medium-sized communication computer systems such as the GE Datanet-30 and the Data Pathing Data Collection Systems. He held several software design patents. In lieu of flowers, Marjorie has requested donations to Second Harvest Food Bank be made in Bill’s honor.
