William Michael “Mike” Everett, age 75, of Maryville, TN, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Mike was born in Maryville in 1951 to Lawrence and Polly Everett. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and a successful entrepreneur, going on to own his own hair salon and beauty school. A renowned member of the community, Mike was a prolific supporter of cancer research and hospice care through decades of fundraising. He was motivated by the loss of his mother and later a sister to breast cancer. Mike was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, serving on and leading many committees and events. Mike was also an accomplished playwright, having written, produced and starred in multiple plays at Maryville College’s Clayton Center for the Arts.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Polly Everett; siblings Joe Everett, Marvin Everett, Mary Everett Long, and Barbara Everett Russell; granddaughter Mary Louise Everett. Survivors include sister Joyce Everett Landers (Robert); son and daughter-in-law Morgan and Glenda Everett; granddaughter Allie Everett; former wife Shelia McMillan; former partner Jon Coomes.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, starting at 11:00 am, with reception to follow at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The family will hold a private entombment the same day at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 314 W Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN 37801.
