Warren H. Gladden

November 1, 1920 — May 5, 2008

Warren H. Gladden, age 87, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 9:55 p.m. at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and children during his passing. Mr. Gladden was a native of Yellow Creek, North Carolina, but had lived in Maryville for over sixty years. He retired from ALCOA Aluminum after being employed there for 39 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he was involved in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. He was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Springview Baptist Church. Warren was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Unitia Lodge #295 in Friendsville. He was also a member of the Scottish and York Rites. Warren was preceded in death by: Parents, William P. & Treacy Gladden; Two Sisters, Etta & Jetta Gladden. He is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Mary Addie (Susie) Gladden; Son & Daughter-in-law, Dwight & Marilyn Gladden of Maryville; Daughter & Son-in-law, Sharon & Dave Paxton of Hendersonville, TN; Daughter & Son-in-law, Sheila & Jim Vaught of Johnson City, TN; Grandchildren, Rebecca Gladden of Johnson City, Stephanie Gladden of Maryville, and Preston Vaught of Johnson City; special relatives, Boyd & Belle Sawyer of Robbinsville, NC, Wayne & Annis Crisp, and Zeb Shope all of Maryville. The family wishes to express gratitude to special friends, Jay Cooper and Rev. Eugene Gann, for their comfort and help during Mr. Gladden's extended illness. Masonic and Funeral services will be held at 7:30 PM, Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Gene Gann and Rev. Glenn Grubb officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 12:30 PM, Friday, May 9, 2008 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Dave Paxton officiating. The family requests that donations be sent to the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, Inc., PO Box 2206, Brentwood, TN 37024. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 PM, Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
