In Loving Memory of Teresa Dianne Alexander
August 24, 1962 – June 20, 2026
Teresa Dianne Alexander, age 63, passed away on June 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. While our hearts are broken by her loss, we are forever grateful for the time we shared with her and the countless lives she touched.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Teresa recently relocated to Knoxville to be closer to the grandchildren she adored. Being near her family brought her tremendous joy, and she cherished every moment spent with those she loved most.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Alexander and James Alexander, and by her brother, James Alexander, and nephew Michael who were undoubtedly waiting with open arms to welcome her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann; her son, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Laura; son-in-law , Ryan, her treasured grandchildren, Kennedi, Wyatt, Kyleigh and Kaiden; her sisters, Janet (Wayne) Parchman and Gayle (Paul) Robbins; her longtime companion of fourteen years, Ruffus Rhodes; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, coworkers, and loved ones.
Teresa spent much of her working life in the printing industry and with Walmart, where she built lifelong friendships and touched countless lives through her kindness, humor, and willingness to help others. She believed in hard work and dedication, often working two and sometimes three jobs while raising her children as a single mother. Through every challenge, she provided for her family with determination, sacrifice, and unconditional love.
To know Teresa was to love her. She was fiercely loyal, deeply compassionate, and never afraid to speak her mind. She was genuine, honest, and protective of the people she loved. If someone she cared about needed her, Teresa would stand beside them without hesitation. She would go to war for her family and friends and was always the first to offer help to anyone in need.
Teresa found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved tending her garden, sitting outside listening to the birds sing, and watching the chipmunks that visited her yard. She dreamed of having cows, goats, chickens, and every animal she could possibly rescue. Her heart was open to every creature that crossed her path. Whether feeding raccoons, nursing an injured bird, or caring for a stray animal, Teresa never turned away an opportunity to show kindness.
While she loved all animals, her beloved Marlie held a special place in her heart. Losing Marlie last year was one of the most difficult heartbreaks she endured. Her family finds comfort in imagining the joyful reunion they now share, along with the many cherished pets she loved throughout her life. In accordance with her wishes, the cremated remains of her beloved animal companions will be laid to rest with her.
Her laughter was unforgettable. Those who knew Teresa best will forever remember the joy of hearing her laugh so hard she would snort, a sound that could instantly make everyone around her laugh too. She had a gift for bringing light into difficult moments and making people feel loved, welcomed, and accepted exactly as they were.
Teresa’s life was a testament to courage and resilience. She survived two strokes and faced extraordinary medical challenges throughout her life. In 2024, following serious medical complications, she lost her leg. Yet even in the face of adversity, she never gave up. She approached recovery with remarkable strength, determination, and humor. Refusing to let hardship define her, she worked tirelessly through rehabilitation, earned her prosthetic, and was walking again within months. She even found ways to make her grandchildren laugh through the process, proving that her spirit could never be diminished.
Above all else, Teresa loved her family. She was immensely proud of her children and adored her grandchildren. Being a mother and grandmother brought her the greatest happiness. She celebrated every accomplishment, offered unwavering support, and made those she loved feel cherished.
In keeping with the selfless way she lived her life, Teresa was an organ donor, giving others hope through her final act of generosity. Even in passing, she continued helping others, a reflection of the compassionate woman she had always been.
Though we wished for more time, we find comfort in knowing that Teresa spent her final months close to the family she treasured most. The love she gave, the lessons she taught, the laughter she shared, and the strength she demonstrated will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her parents, her brother, Marlie, and the many beloved animals she cared for throughout her life.
Teresa’s life was defined not by the hardships she endured, but by the love she gave. Her legacy lives on in her family, in the lives she touched, and in the countless memories that will forever bring both tears and smiles.
She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
