Sandra Lee Gamble

September 29, 1939 — October 9, 2025

Maryville, TN

Sandra Lee Gamble, 86, of Maryville TN went home to be with the Lord, passing peacefully on October 9, 2025.

Sandy was born on Sept 29, 1939, in Columbus, Georgia, with over half of her life spent in Colonial Heights VA before moving to Maryville TN in 1987 to be close to her extended and much-loved Gamble family. Professionally, she worked as a procurement specialist in Richmond, VA for Defense General Supply Center, a branch of Department of Defense, where she retired with 20 years of service. She always exemplified a strong sense of pride in our country and unwavering support of our military.

Her proudest accomplishment and greatest joy was being a mother of three children (well until they became adults ha) but her most cherished role was that of a doting, devoted Grammy to her sweet red head Emory. She dedicated most of her life to raising her children and caring for others whether that was in human form or any/all of God’s creatures. She received much enjoyment and companionship over the years from her own personal pets, fosters or random critters that ventured into her yard.

Anyone who knew Sandy quickly realized she had strong opinions on everything and would let you know it but also for her silliness and thinking/acting like she was 20 years younger than her age, which was a theme throughout her life! However, the most important aspect of her life: Sandy was a devout Christian woman and prayer warrior who witnessed to anyone at any time encouraging the need for Jesus in their life! She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church (Col Hghts VA 25+ years), Rockford Baptist Church (20 years) and most recently Broadway Baptist Church (15 years). She touched the lives of many whether offering advice (often unsolicited), providing a shoulder to lean on, a compassionate ear, a hug when needed and/or incessant prayers. Sandy/Mom/Grammy loved unconditionally!

Sandy is survived by her children, Richard Gamble (wife Amy), Wayne Gamble and Cheryl Gamble, her one and only granddaughter Emory, and brother Robert Philip Bolt (wife Georgia). She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her mother Clois Willis; and many beloved family and friends.

Smiths Funeral Home will be handling her internment. To honor Sandy’s wishes, there will only be a small family grave side service at Ellejoy cemetery on Saturday Oct 18th. In lieu of flowers and to support her passion for missions, donations can be made to Broadway Baptist Church/Missions or IMB Lottie Moon Missions Offering both in honor of Sandy Gamble.
