Rev. Roy Oliver, Age 97, went to his Heavenly Home to be with the love of his life, Emma Oliver on Saturday, January 3. Roy and Emma were married 75 years. They had 5 children, David Oliver (deceased), Jesse (JR) Oliver, Joyce (John) Kiser, Linda (Robbie) Roberson, and Judy (Allen) Presnell. There are 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
He became an ordained minister in 1963 and pastored several Baptist churches in Blount County. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a lifelong local builder/contractor in Blount County.
Roy was an “Old Mountain Man” and was born in the Smokies. He grew up in Tremont during the Little River Railroad logging days. He was the last living man who lived in Tremont and wrote a book, The Last Man from Tremont. He was featured on The Heartland Series several times. He was a direct descendant from the Cades Cove John Oliver family.
The family’s thanks go out to caregivers, who became like family, Jamie Welda and Adelyn Rose for the loving care they gave him. Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Friday, January 9, 2026 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mike Parker officiating.
