Roy "Shannon" Nabors, III

Roy “Shannon” Nabors, age 17, of Louisville, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Shannon was a student at William Blount High School, where he was a member of the football team and shared his love of sports with teammates and friends. He also played baseball with Maryville Little League’s Senior League and the ICE travel team. A true sports enthusiast, Shannon had an incredible memory for stats and could talk about any game with passion and insight. He loved spending his summers in Daytona Beach, cruising with family, and playing Xbox with friends. Known for his quick wit and contagious laughter, Shannon had a way of lighting up any room. He was a loyal friend who always said, “I love you,” and meant it. His heart was big, his kindness unmatched, and his ability to understand others was a gift. Shannon was never defined by his past—he was known for his generosity, his sense of humor, and his genuine compassion for others. Shannon's life, while brief, touched many and will be remembered for the joy, love, and laughter he brought to those around him. Preceded in death by his parents, Roy Nabors and Kristi Nabors; grandmother, Phyllis Onks. Survivors include his grandparents, Steven Onks, Roy and Beverly Nabors; sister, Kaitlyn Onks; aunts and uncles, Jesse and Kerri Ridgdill, Greg and Angela Smart; cousin, Kyren Lane; uncle, Marshall Lane; aunt and uncle, Mike and Missy Nabors; cousins, Brenton and Lydia Nabors and many friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00p.m. with a Celebration of Shannon’s Life at 4:00 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Doug Blair officiating. Memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N.
