Roy Stephen Hayes

December 10, 1947 — July 20, 2025

Roy Stephen “Steve” Hayes, 77, passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Blount County on July 20, 2025. Steve was preceded in death by: father, William Harold “Snag” Hayes; mother, Ola Elizabeth McClurg Hayes; older brother, Johnny Harold Hayes; infant brother, Billy Ray Hayes. He is survived by: sister, Libby Breeding; nephews, Craig & Kim Hayes; Zach & Mandy Breeding; and Matt & Chrissie Breeding; nieces, Amy Hayes and Kate & Lee Mouser.

Steve retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority and spent his retirement years looking after Debbie Maehr’s farm where he hunted and enjoyed spending time. He was very proud of all the work he had done at the farm. He loved fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 PM, Monday, July 28, 2025 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be shared at www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com.
