Rodney Sherwood Watson left this earth on May 7th, 2026, just days after his 80th birthday; a birthday that he was doing his best to achieve. He was a wonderful, generous, and happy man who was always trying to see the bright side of any situation, which lightened the lives of many family and friends.
This thoughtful husband, father, and grandfather was born May 4th, 1946, and led a full life of love, laughs, and beautiful moments with his family and friends, who will miss him so dearly.
Rodney devoted his life and extra time to his family, never missing a game, performance, or extracurricular activity, always encouraging and forever proud of each accomplishment. He was selfless and loving, and gave everything he could to help his loved ones succeed.
He was a 1964 graduate of East High School in Knoxville, attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and was a devoted UT fan. He served in the United States Army Reserves, but you couldn't get him to take any accolades for his service.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clifford Watson and Pearl Myrtle Morell; Son, Joey Allen Watson; and great-grandson, Ezekiel Collins.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Brenda Caroline Watson; his two sons, Tommy Watson (Sandy) and Randy Watson (Bridget); his daughter, Mystie Watson; his grandchildren, Sierra McFalls (Alan), Samantha Collins (Bobby), William Watson, Jacob Watson; and his great-grandchildren, Eli, Kaylin, Laney, Izzy, Cameron, and Xander.
Thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care and support during his last month.
Rest easy, Rod. You deserve to relax and finally enjoy your perfect heavenly body.
