Spencer, Robert Lee age 79, of Colonial Heights, VA, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA. His desire to help others is evidenced by his activities as a member of the Maryville Lions Club. His love of life is apparent in his continued participation in many activities such as writing the monthly newsletter for the Dunlop House where he had resided for the past five years as well as acting as the emcee for their holiday performances. His loyalty to his country was proven by his service in the Navy during World War II, and his loyalty to his wife Molly throughout their 50 years of marriage set the standard his daughters and granddaughters would use when choosing their husbands. He is preceded in death by his father Robert L. Spencer, his mother Willie Bea Fillmon Spencer, his loving wife Molly Owen Spencer, his sisters Lorene Graham and Jean Spivey, and his brother Horace Spencer. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in law: Susan and Bill Powers of Lawrenceville, GA, Sallie and John Smith of Chesterfield, VA, Meg and Mark Rooney of Lilburn, GA, and Beth and Joe Pinson of Riverview, FL; nine grandchildren: Bryan, Katie, and Sallie Powers; Spencer Smith; Amy and Philip Rooney; Delaney, Sydney and Jonah Pinson; and two great-grandchildren: Wesley and Ethan Powers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2006 at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, TN. Graveside service & interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Maryville, with Rev. George Macht officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maryville Lions Club, District 12N, Club # 5107, P.O. Box 5934, Maryville, TN 37802-5934.
