Robert Lee Miller (Bob), age 95, of Alcoa, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on May 26, 2026. Born on May 19, 1931, in Maryville, Tennessee to Burl and June Miller. He was blessed to celebrate his 95th birthday surrounded by family and loved ones just one week before his passing. His life was defined by hard work, loyalty, humor, and a deep and abiding love for his family. A proud veteran, Bob served his country honorably in the United States Air Force followed by service in the United States Air National Guard. He carried his sense of duty and discipline throughout his life. Bob was a devoted family man who centered his life around those he loved. He was a cherished husband, partner, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his greatest joy came from time spent with his family. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. Bob worked for many years delivering Sealtest milk and later spent 26 years with the City of Alcoa Water Filtration Plant, where he retired. He took pride in hard work and found joy in simple, hands-on hobbies, including making fishing lures, fishing, remodeling and repairing homes to rent, and playing the game FARKLE with family and friends. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Dorothy Jean (Patton) Miller, who passed away in 2014. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, building a legacy rooted in love, laughter, and family while raising five children. Bob will be deeply missed by his surviving children: three sons, Michael Miller (Ana), Bob Miller (Debra), and Billy Anderson (Diane); and two daughters, Cathy Richesin (Ray) and Sandra Durden (Robert). He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Lori, Megan, Katie Miller (Michael Miller deceased); Matt Miller (Dena); Emilie Pasternak; Niki Clark (Chris); Jared Anderson (Ashley) and Josh Anderson (Claudia); Shawn Richesin (Kristin); Cassidy Garcia (Manny); Samanda Knight (Josh); and Lake Burnett; along with sixteen great-grandchildren and one deceased. In the years that followed, Bob was blessed to share a loving relationship with Millie A. Greene, who brought love, comfort, and great joy into his life. The many years shared were a gift to each of them and she will dearly miss him. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Miller (Glenda), and five sisters, Kaye Young, Judy Hill, Pat Teffeteller, Peggy Irwin (B.L,) and Faye Cureton, as well as countless nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and steady presence. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver, Doris Lehr, for her compassionate care. A receiving of friends will be held on Tuesday June 2 between 5 to 7 pm. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm. A graveside service will be held the following day at Grandview Cemetery at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross, Wounded Warrior Project, Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be shared at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com.
