Peggy Irene Hunt

Irene Kivett Hunt passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023, at the age of 95, in Maryville, TN. Born in High Point, NC and valedictorian of her Lexington NC High School Class, Irene followed her husband, Jim, to Rochester, MN where they raised their three children.

A member of three Needlework Guilds, Irene co-owned a thread and yarn shop, taught stitching and was an active volunteer in Minnesota and later in Memphis, where Jim’s career took them. She loved people above all else.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, all their brothers and a sister, and an infant great grandchild. She is survived by three children, two daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial was held on September 17 on her beloved Mississippi River in Memphis. Her final resting place will be with her husband at Ft Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota.
