Peggy M. Adkins, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Peggy was a member of the Maryville Church of Christ. She was an Alumnus of Freed-Hardeman University and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Tennessee. She was named Alumna of the Year from Freed-Hardman as well as named one of The Ten Most Outstanding Young Women of America. Peggy was the curriculum developer and senior trainer for The Michael and Edna Josephson Institute of Ethics CHARACTER COUNTS! program. She served as President of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents and was inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame. She was also a member of the DAR. She is survived by husband, Barry Adkins; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Lisa Adkins; daughter, Merri Amanda Adkins; grandchildren, Addison, Corder, Rynn, Will, Jack and grand-dog, Knox Henry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Freed-Hardeman University, fhu.edu or the University of Tennessee Christian Student Center, cscutk.org.
