Paul Edward Dixon

Paul Edward Dixon, age 71, of Knoxville, passed away on May 31, 2023, at UT Medical Center after a hard-fought battle with an aggressive cancer. He was born July 21, 1951, in, Sevierville, TN, the son of William Earl and Mary Catherine (Headrick) Dixon.

Paul graduated from Sevier County High School, Class of 1970. Following graduation, he married the love of his life, Shirley Denton on August 1, 1971, and celebrated 51 years of marriage. His family loved him dearly and are heartbroken but know that will see with him again in Heaven. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a problem-solver with an unmatched work ethic. He often took on difficult projects around the house, loved planting flowers and working in the yard. He lived in Georgia for over 35 years but remained an avid UT football and basketball fan.       

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister Linda Mae, sister Bonnie Patterson of Sevierville, and brother Steve Dixon of Sevierville. He was survived by his wife, Shirley (Denton) Dixon; daughters, Tina Mitchell and husband, Bill of Louisville, TN, Valerie Dixon of Knoxville; four grandchildren, Tyler Ensley and fiancée Emily Jones, Tailynn (Ensley) Klippel and husband Nick, Leigha Walraven, Brandon Walraven; brothers, Brian Dixon and wife Amanda of Knoxville, William Donald Dixon and wife Betty, of Sevierville, Ricky Floyd , Bobby Floyd of Sevierville; many nieces and nephews; his dearly loved and devoted dog, Braxton.

The family would like to especially thank UT Hospice and 12 East at UT Medical Center for their continuous warm and attentive care.
