Nancy Lou McCarter

Nancy Lou McCarter, age 88 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the longest living member of Topside Church of God and loved spending time with her family and her church. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Tillman L. McCarter; and 10 brothers and sisters. Survived by her children and their spouses, Stephen and Vickie Sue McCarter of Louisville, Tillman T. and Angelia Faye McCarter of Maryville, and Belinda Joan and Terrold Payne of Maryville; 7 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and 6 Great-great Grandchildren; Sister, Rushia Remmenga of Michigan; many Nieces, Nephews, and Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews; Special thanks to her caregivers, Laurie Lusk and Judith Chatterton for the loving care that they gave Nancy. The family will receive friends in the Smith Chapel on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 12:00 noon until 1:30pm with a Celebration of Nancy’s life to follow at 1:30pm with her grandsons, Rev. Rob Bailey, Rev. Aaron McCarter, and Rev. Nick Rains officiating. Interment services will follow at 3:00 pm at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
