Nancy Belle
Curran
Nov 7, 1941 — Oct 15, 2026
In Loving Memory of Nancy Belle Curran
July 11, 1941 – October 15, 2026
Nancy Belle Curran, née Green, age 85, passed away on October 15, 2026, with her family by her side. She leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, hard work, and dedication to the many people whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
Nancy was the daughter of Pearl Farris and George Green of Arkansas City, Kansas, where she grew up alongside her brothers, Kirby and John Green. A lifelong learner with a passion for education and the arts, she graduated from high school in Arkansas City and attended Emporia State Teachers College. She later earned a master’s degree in dance from North Texas Women’s College in Denton, Texas.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Michael Thomas Curran, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. Together, they shared a life filled with travel, new experiences, business ventures, and educational opportunities around the world. As an active military spouse, Nancy embraced the adventures that came with Air Force life, making the most of every place they called home.
Throughout her career, Nancy demonstrated remarkable versatility, determination, and a natural love for people. She was a successful high school teacher, track and dance coach, and ran Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s satellite campus in northern Maine. During her travels in the Pacific, she dealt in Oriental goods, jewelry, and furniture. She also pursued her interests as an antique dealer in North Carolina during the late 1970s, and later worked as a realtor.
After living in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Guam, North Carolina, Maine, Belgium, and Arkansas, Nancy and Mike moved to Maryville in 1989. Nancy continued her active professional life, selling jewelry for Gordon’s Jewelers and spending 8 years as an automobile salesperson at Twin City Buick. Her enthusiasm and willingness to try something new remained defining qualities throughout her life. In Maryville, Nancy and Mike maintained a large social circle that filled their lives with card games and going out to celebrate. Nancy’s friends particularly made her laugh like no other.
Above all, Nancy treasured her family. She is survived by her children, Patrick Kirby Curran, and Megan Curran Block; her six grandchildren, Madison Block, Thomas Curran, Ryan Block, Andrew Curran, Mackenzie Block, and Rowan Block; her son-in-law, Robert Block of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Julie Curran of El Paso, Texas. She is also remembered by extended family members, friends, former colleagues, students, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, hard work, her adventurous spirit, and the lasting memories she created with those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren and great friends. Nancy has been reunited with her parents, brothers, and the love of her life, Mike.
May Nancy Belle Curran rest in peace, forever loved and always remembered.
