Mike G. Gomes

Gomes, Mike G. age 46, a resident of Maryville since 1990 formerly of Swansea, Massachusetts died Tuesday, February 19, 2007 at his home. Mike was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic church in Fall River, Massachusetts and worshipped with his Brothers and Sisters-in-Christ at Forest Hill Baptist Church of Maryville. He was a former coach with various pee-wee and little league teams and an avid motorcycle enthusiast and builder. He was formerly employed with the Swansea Highway Department, the former manager of Empire Gas Company, and was employed with Saturn of Knoxville for the last 14 years. Mike was a volunteer with various organizations including Good Will and the Children's Home. His home and helping hand was always available to anyone in need. Survivors include his daughter Jennifer Gomes and his son Wesley Gomes both of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Courtney Ferrier of Virginia; his son through marriage David Weaver and wife Trisha, his daughter through marriage, Kristi Hickson and husband David; Grandchildren, Skyler and Jayden Ferrier and Victoria Weaver; Parents, Helen Miranda of Somerset, Massachusetts and Frank Gomes of Washington State. Sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Tom Leonard of Warwick, R.I.; his Committed partner and best friend, Celia Weaver of Knoxville; his lifelong friend and Brother-in-Christ, Jim Franco of Washington State and a host of family and friends; Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Harry Shearer officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007 in Grandview Cemetery.
