Michael E. McGoldrick, 70, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on July 3, 2022, after a three-month battle with Merkel Cell Carcinoma. Born in Knoxville, he is a graduate of Alcoa High School and studied at The University of Tennessee Knoxville. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company in 2018, after 45 years as an electrician.
A lover of nature and a talented amateur photographer, he captured the beauty of wildflowers in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park for the past 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Jannalee McGoldrick, sister Pat Boyd and brother Robert McGoldrick.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melanie Woods McGoldrick of Maryville, brother Joe McGoldrick, daughter Jennifer Fuqua (Doug), step-children Casey Woods, Christie Gereighty (Andrew) and Amy Grandaw (Don), grandchild Morgan Fuqua and seven step-grandchildren.
Per his wishes he will be cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
