Townsend, TN
Michael Louis Girard, age 73, of Townsend, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on the morning of September 3, 2026.
Born on November 11, 1952, Michael was the son of Capt. Jean Louis Girard and Harriet Francis Girard. Throughout his life, he was known for his generous spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Michael is survived by his siblings and their families: Steven Girard and wife Patsy; Kathy Anderson and husband Charlie, along with Steven, Tim, and Travis Smith; Colleen Girard; Peter Girard and wife Gayle, and their daughter Amanda Girard; and David Girard and wife Michele, and their children Alex and Manon Girard. He is also survived by his beloved adopted daughter, Eprille, as well as many cherished cousins, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Louis and Harriet Francis “Fran” Girard; his brother, Thomas Girard; his sister, Christine Girard; and his nephew, Jeremy Girard, the son of Peter and Gayle Girard.
Michael will be remembered as a kind and selfless man who never hesitated to help someone in need. His generosity knew no bounds, and it was often said that he was always looking for a shirt because he had already given the one off his back to someone else. His warmth, humility, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
To his family and friends, Michael was never above them and never below them—he was always beside them. His steadfast presence, loyal friendship, and loving heart will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and generosity.
Rest in peace, dear brother, uncle, father, and friend. Your legacy of love will live on in all who knew and loved you.
"Never above you, never below you, always beside you, cheers!"
