Melba Christine Hughes

Melba Christine Hughes, age 85, of Alcoa, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Mrs. Hughes was a longtime member and the organist at Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Hughes; parents, Lee H. and Delia Russell; brother and sister-in-law, William Ray and Naomi Russell; son-in-law, Jim Walker; Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin & Linda Hughes; daughter, Donna B. Walker, all of Maryville; grandchildren, Justin of Maryville, Jaime of Alcoa, Kerri of Springfield, MO, and John of Greenville, SC and Jody serving in the Army at Fort Carson, CO; sister and brother-in-law, Iva Lee and Dan Webb; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Greg Kelly and Rev. George Gilbert officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the Interment service.
