Mary Sue Bales Sherlin age 90 of Louisville, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at Brookdale Sandy Springs. She was born and raised in Walland. Sue was a graduate of Walland High School where she was an exceptional basketball player. She was on the varsity team in 8th grade. She then went on to play softball and semi pro basketball. Sue enjoyed reading until her vision failed. She loved working in her yard, and sitting on the front porch listening to birds and doing crafts. She was a member of Alcoa First Methodist Church and she had an amazing love for her family and was committed to caring for them. She had a very generous and giving spirit. Preceded in death by: parents, Edgar & Emma Bales; husband, Charles “Bob” Sherlin; siblings, Ruth Long, Lona Everett, Isaac Bales, Elizabeth Bales, J.E. Bales, Charles “Cotton” Bales, and George Earl Bales. Survivors include: daughter, Sandy Sherlin & Bruce Richesin; bonus grandson, Dr. Matt Richeson, PhD; several nieces and nephews including: Jackie Beers, Marie Jenkins, Layne Banks, Mike Everett, and Bill Everett; special life long friend, Myrtle Rorex; caregiver, Vikki Fussell & Kylie, Scheduling Specialist from Home Instead; beloved grand-dog, Izzy and grand-cat, Chewy. Special thanks to Chris, Terri, and Doug at Blount Discount Pharmacy, staff at Brookdale Sandy Springs, and Dr. Andy Waller & staff.
