Mary Ellen Newman

Mary Ellen Newman, age 98 of Maryville, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Newman; father, Brownlow M. Humphrey and mother, Stella Caldwell Humphrey; step-mother, Myrtle Webb Humphrey; daughter, Barbara J. Cresse; granddaughter, Sheila Tolfa; great-granddaughter, Bridgett Tolfa; brothers, Floyd Humphrey, Joe Humphrey, Fred Humphrey, Lawrence Humphrey, and Robert Humphrey; sister, Helen Taylor. She is survived by her brother, Arthur “Mick” H. Humphrey; stepsons, Steve Newman and Joe Newman; grandchildren, Terrance H. Wingo, Shelley Frank, Michael D. Wingo, Leslie M. Mealer, and Stephanie Newman; great-grandchildren, Terrance H. Wingo Jr., Kayla Bell, Lindsey Headrick, Alesha Wingo, Brandon Bell, Danny Frank, Nikki Frank, and Kenny Frank; 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family also survive. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the Smith Trinity Chapel with a celebration of Mary’s life to follow at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Grandview Cemetery Pavilion for the entombment service.
