Mary Sue Lowe

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, Mary Sue Mitchell Lowe passed on to her Heavenly home. Mary Sue was born on May 14, 1937 to the late William and Lillian Mitchell of Maryville. Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 69 years, Barney; sisters, Juanita Rose, Jane Parrott, and June Frankewich; brothers, Bill Mitchell and Don Gamble; step-father Mose Gamble; and her Nannie and Uncle. She spent twenty years as a devoted Air Force wife, creating a welcoming and loving home wherever the service took them. After Barney retired from the United States Air Force, they returned to their hometown in Maryville. Mary Sue loved to decorate her home and was a wonderful cook. While she was able, she enjoyed attending church, working on crafts, and playing card games with her sisters and friends. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dave Marks; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Sandy Lowe; grandchildren, Chad Marks and wife Bella, Kevin Lowe and wife Hope, Abby Marks; great-grandson William Lowe; sister, Della Faye Montgomery; sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Gordon Lawson; many nieces and nephews. Mary Sue touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her and will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family wishes to especially thank the staff of Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans’ Home for their exceptional, loving, and tender care. Family will assemble for graveside service and interment at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Clarks Grove Cemetery with Chris Land officiating.
