Mary Sue (Schrimsher) Crowder

Mary Sue Crowder, age 78 of Maryville, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 8, 2022.  She was a devoted member of the First Apostolic Church of Maryville.  Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She was loved by many and will be deeply missed. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama and by five years old worked as a sharecropper until adulthood. She had twenty-two siblings and learned to work hard at a young age and survive on very little and was always grateful for the smallest of things. She loved spending time with her family, reading her bible, and croqueting beautiful blankets and crafts for those she loved.  She had a big heart for animals, and especially loved her long-time companion "Little Boy" who was part of the family.   Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Gladys Schrimsher, sisters, Mamie, Ruth, Hazel, Mildred, Rachael; brothers, Walter, Raymond, Nolan and her beloved husband, Claude Crowder; loving son, Rodney Crowder; step-son, Michael Crowder, and beloved grandchildren, Ryan Knight, Michael and Erica Estes. She is survived by Daughters Susan Knight (Rick), and Lisa Crowder; stepdaughters Carol Castaneda (Art), Cathy Gartin and Grandchildren Kara Knight, Rebecca Cox; Chestly and Catrina Gartin; and great-grandchildren Maddox Williams, Grayson Knight, and Ava Knight.  Mary is survived by her close sisters, Reba Cooper and Shirley Sullenger; and special nieces, Betty and Pam Cunningham, Connie Gredig and Donna Ballinger and many more family members. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 6:00pm until 7:00pm followed by the service led by Pastor Kenneth Carpenter at the First Apostolic Church of Maryville. The Funeral procession to Grandview Cemetery begins at 8am from Smith Funeral Home and graveside service begins at 9am on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.  Memorial donations can be made to First Apostolic Church in Maryville, Tennessee 37801.
