Martha Carey Wilson

Martha Jean Carey Wilson, age 87 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Martha was a resident of Memphis before moving to Maryville in 1976. She always held family as the most important thing in life, especially cooking and being a grandmother. She had the sweetest disposition and was always a great conversationalist who loved having fun. Martha was a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wilson; and brothers and sisters, Pauline Rhodes, Jack Amos Carey, Archie Carey, Floyd Carey, and Bernice Spann. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kelly Shane Wilson Sr. and Susan Wilson of Mt. Carmel, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Shay and Sammy Grindstaff of Maryville; grandchildren, Kelly Shane Wilson Jr. and Ryley Grindstaff; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Oma Jean Carey of Arkansas; sister, Bobbie Sue Wilson of Jackson, TN; special pets, Maggie, Angus, and Penelope; several nieces, nephews, and other family also survive. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in the Smith Trinity Chapel with a Celebration of Martha’s life to follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Beasley officiating. The interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery.
