DeButy, Marshall C. "Cop" age 80 of Tallassee, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #469 and a 32 degree Mason. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and he retired from the Blount County School system maintenance department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson & Ada DeButy; brother, Warren Ray DeButy. Survivors include his daughters & sons-in-law, Virginia "Gina" & David Walters of Maryville, Theresa Sawyer of Maryville, Jeannette & Jerry Pendleton of Rockford; sister & brother-in-law, Hope & Kenneth Marine of Maryville; grandchildren & spouses, Tanya & David Sloan of Maryville, Chris & Brandy Sawyer of Seymour, Gary & Sherry Pendleton of Rockford, Jeremiah Sawyer of Maryville, Amy & Matthew Pendleton of Harrogate; great-grandchildren, Isaiah & Nevaeh Sawyer; several nieces & nephews; extra special friends, Scott & Diana DeButy, Amanda & Wendell Coada and Edna Marie Martin, and other special friends too many to mention. Funeral service 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2007, Smith Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Beecher Whitehead officiating. Family & friends will assemble at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Boone Cemetery in Happy Valley for the interment with available parking at the Happy Valley Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee, 4450 Walker Blvd., Suite 2, Knoxville, TN 37917-1523.
