Seymour

Marilyn Kay Sharp Hart, age 81, of Seymour, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 19, 2024. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to high school sweethearts Wilbur and Clara Belle Sharp, Marilyn grew up in a Christian home. She accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord on January 29, 1956, and later dedicated her life to full time Christian service. She attended Milligan College for two years before transferring to the University of Louisville where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education. While at U of L, she met and later married William Franklin Hart on August 15, 1965. They gave birth to their only child, Lori Ann, in 1971. Marilyn loved music and learned to play piano as a child. She used her musical talents to accompany various soloists, instrumentalists, choirs, and church congregations for more than seventy years. She was also a dedicated Sunday School teacher and prayer warrior. An avid fan of University of Tennessee athletics, she followed UT football, basketball, baseball, and softball annually. However, her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandson, Lukas, whenever possible. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Ezra Sharp and Clara Belle Cassity Sharp. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Hart Campbell, and her grandson, Lukas Campbell. The family will receive friends at Smith's Funeral and Cremation Services in Maryville from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, August 27, with the funeral service to follow at 7:00. Pastor Gary McCammon will be officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday, August 28, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 5302 Nails Creek Road, Maryville, Tennessee, at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The King's Academy, 202 Smothers Road, Seymour, Tennessee, 37865, where her daughter has served for 25 years.
