Marie Harrison Baker

Marie Harrison Baker age 95 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born on the Harrison Family Farm 1 of 10 children of William & Izzie Harrison. She was raised on the farm and in Maryville. She loved the country life and took pride that the farm had been in the family since 1795. Her Harrison ancestors settled in East Tennessee from Prince Edward Co., Virginia. Before moving to Tennessee they had received a land grant on the banks of the Little Tennessee River. A good and sweet mother who will be sorely missed. She traveled extensively and loved the U.T. Football games along with her late husband Brice L. Baker. For many years, she played Canasta and Bridge and was well known among the Bridge Set. She fell the preceding Friday, November 23 and broke her ankle and was hospitalized at Blount Memorial Hospital where she died five days later. She will be sadly missed by her two sons Jerry Baker and Gordon Baker of Maryville and Granddaughters, Beth Miller, Julie Shriver, and Emily Baker. Numerous nephews and nieces living in East Tennessee and Virginia. Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 9, 2007 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with Father Bob Beasley and Father Harry Howard officiating.
