Linda Sue Ball age 68 of Maryville, passed away June 9, 2026. She loved basketball, softball, and sports of all kind. Linda coached basketball at all levels in the Blount County for many years. She was also an umpire and referee. In 2015, Linda was inducted into the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame. She was involved in local youth sports for more than 50 years. Preceded in death by: parents, Donald & Bobbie French; husband of 45 years, William Ball; father & mother-in-law, Fred & Maxie Ball. Survivors include: son, John Ball; daughter, Leigh Anne Ball; grandchild, Jaylen Ball; brother & sister-in-law, John & Jami French; sisters & brothers-in-law, Donna & Terry Jenkins, Betty Kirkland, and Carol & Cliff Hodge; sisters-in-law, Brenda & Eric Allison and Tootsie & Terry Satterfield; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Family reception will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Smithview Pavilion. As Linda said, “Orange is the new black!” So, in honor of that quote, please wear your favorite UT Orange and White to the gathering. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be at 7:00 PM.
