Lewis Tim Bledsoe

March 13, 1938 — April 9, 2006

Bledsoe, Lewis "Tim" age 68 of Alcoa, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 9, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of First Baptist Church Alcoa. His testimony of faith and his positive attitude touched many lives. He will be remembered for his friendliness, his kindness, and a big heart for helping others. He retired from Delta Air Lines with 26 years of service. After leaving Delta, he worked for the Blount County Highway Department. Tim grew up in Alcoa, graduating from Alcoa High School in the Class of 1956. He served on the Alcoa City Commission from 1987 to 1999. He served on the Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County Parks and Recreation Commission. Tim had a great love for his country. He served in the United States Army. He had 23 years of service with the 134th ARG-Tennessee Air National Guard, McGhee Tyson Airbase. He was a member of the Republican Party and served on the Blount County Republican Executive Committee. He was a member of the board for the Blount County Election Commission. He belonged to the Prudential Lodge in Alcoa and the Shriners. Tim enjoyed attending the Alcoa football and basketball games and he was an avid golfer and had many golfing buddies. He will be remembered always as the best "Poppy" in the world. Preceded in death by: Parents, Anna Mae and Dossie Bledsoe. Tim is survived by a wonderful family and a host of friends. Wife, Brenda Bledsoe; Son and Daughter-in-law, Timothy C. & Anita Bledsoe; Daughter, Beverle Bledsoe Carpenter; Grandchildren, Molly, Lucas, Karlie, Chelsea and Jacob; Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Don & Helen Bledsoe, Mahlon and Sue Bledsoe, Jerry & Shelia Bledsoe, Clayton and Meskil Bledsoe, Loren and Janet Bledsoe; Sisters and Brother-in-law, Karen & Charles Gourley, Myrna & Kenneth Lewis; Sister, Connie Giles; Brother, Gary Bledsoe. Many special nieces and nephews and cousins. Aunts, Ruby Galyon and Estell Bledsoe; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, Patty & John Miller; Mother-in-law, Margaret Holdway. Loyal friends, Herman & Peggy Thompson of Atlanta, R.H. & Andrea Jewell, Jim "Toby" Long, Jack Coker, Jimmy D. Harris, and Greg McClain. A service of worship will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at First Baptist Church Alcoa with Rev. Freeman Tomlin, Rev. Shane Bonham, and Rev. Greg Long officiating. The entombment will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
