Landon Evans Nickerson

May 13, 2014 — May 26, 2026

With broken hearts and endless love, we announce the passing of our beloved son, Landon Evans Nickerson, who went to be with Jesus on May 26, 2026, surrounded and on May 28th was reunited in heaven with his Great Grandmother, Jo Ann Nickerson. Landon spent countless hours with her, especially when he was younger, and they shared a very special bond that could never be broken. Together they spent so much time laughing, loving life, and creating cherished memories by the love of his family.

In his short but extraordinary life, Landon taught more people about courage, faith, kindness, and perseverance than most do in a lifetime. He faced every challenge with a strength that inspired everyone around him, never allowing his difficult battle with pediatric brain cancer to define the incredible person he was.

Landon had a heart that was simply different. He was the kind of child who made others feel seen, valued, and loved. He freely gave compliments to friends and strangers alike, always looking for ways to brighten someone’s day. His compassion came naturally, and his kindness touched countless lives.

One of Landon’s greatest passions was building LEGO Technic sets. Throughout his cancer journey, many generous people gifted him incredible sets that brought him comfort, excitement, and something to look forward to during difficult days. Building became more than a hobby—it became an escape, a creative outlet, and a source of joy. While there are several sets, he sadly was not able to finish, those sets will be donated through Landon’s Lego Cart Foundation so that other children can experience the same happiness and distraction that LEGO brought to him during his battle.

Landon’s love for building inspired the creation of Landon’s Lego Cart Foundation, a mission dedicated to providing LEGO sets to children facing serious illnesses and long hospital stays. Through this foundation, his legacy of hope, creativity, and kindness will continue to impact countless children and families for years to come.

Landon cherished his friendships. His best friend, Dustin, spent countless weekends at our home and became like a second son to our family. The bond they shared was one of loyalty, laughter, adventure, and unconditional friendship. We will forever be grateful for the memories they created together and for the special place Dustin will always hold in our hearts.

He was also blessed with the friendship of Jack, one of his very first friends in the neighborhood. Together they spent countless hours riding bikes and scooters through the streets, creating adventures wherever they went. Landon loved welcoming every new family, neighbor, and child who moved into our community. He never met a stranger. In fact, even when we as parents weren’t feeling particularly social, Landon often made sure we met every new neighbor anyway. Because of him, our neighborhood became so much more than a place to live—it became family.

We find comfort in imagining him being reunited with his dear friend Randy. We can picture them together again racing RC Cars and enjoying endless adventures.

Another special friendship in Landon’s life was with his neighborhood buddy, Carter. Although Carter was only five years old, age never mattered to Landon. He had a remarkable gift for connecting with people of all ages and making everyone feel important. The two spent countless hours together playing in garages, going on adventures around the neighborhood, and enjoying sleepovers that Carter always looked forward to. Along with Jack and Dustin, they formed a wonderful group of friends whose laughter and memories will forever be treasured.

One of the most beautiful things about Landon was his ability to love every soul he met. Whether someone was younger, older, a lifelong friend, or someone he had just met, he saw the good in people and welcomed them with an open heart. He had a way of making everyone feel included, valued, and loved, and that gift left a lasting impact on every person, fortunate enough to know him.

Today, we are surrounded by countless people in our community who will forever be part of our lives because Landon introduced us to them. The love, support, meals, prayers, encouragement, and kindness shown by our neighborhood throughout this journey have carried us through our darkest days. What started as neighbors became family, and we will be forever grateful for the extraordinary community Landon helped build around us.

Landon was also deeply loved by his school family at Montvale Elementary School. Throughout his journey, the staff, teachers, students, and administration showed unwavering support, compassion, and love. They became an extension of our family and stood beside us every step of the way. In honor of Landon’s remarkable bravery and courage, Montvale Elementary established an award in his name that will continue for future students who exemplify those same qualities. Landon was honored to be the very first recipient of this award during his final school year, a recognition that meant so much to him and to our family. Through this award, his legacy will continue inspiring children for generations to come.

Landon also loved spending time with his family, making memories with his sister Emma, sharing laughs with friends, and embracing life’s simple joys. His bright blue eyes, infectious smile, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Even in passing, Landon continued to help others. His brain tumors were donated to research in hopes of advancing treatments and one day finding a cure for this devastating disease. His beautiful blue eyes were also donated, allowing his light to continue shining in the lives of others. These gifts reflect the selfless and giving spirit that defined his life.

While our hearts ache with a pain that words cannot describe, we find comfort in knowing that Landon is fully healed, free from pain, and resting in the loving arms of Jesus. We imagine him running, laughing, building, and experiencing the perfect peace he so richly deserves.

Landon leaves behind his loving parents, Casie and Dylan Nickerson; his beloved sister, Emma; Grandfather Albert Fisher III; Grandfather Mark Evans Nickerson and wife, Lidi; Grandfather John Connors and wife, Crystal; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, friends, neighbors, teachers, caregivers, classmates, and supporters whose lives were forever changed by knowing him. He was preceded in death by Grandmother Dorine Connors, Grandfather Richard Evans Nickerson, Great Grandmother Eleanor Dawson, Great Grandfather Albert Fisher Jr., and Great Grandmother Helen Fisher.

Though his time on earth was far too short, his impact will last forever. The community he built, the friendships he nurtured, the courage he demonstrated, and the love he shared will continue to ripple through the lives of others for years to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Landon’s Lego Cart Foundation, which will continue Landon’s mission of bringing joy, creativity, comfort, and hope to children facing difficult medical journeys.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
