Kenneth E. Brock

June 1, 1938 — December 27, 2006

Brock, Kenneth E. age 68 passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice on Andersonville Pike in Knoxville, TN. He grew up in Maryville, TN and graduated from Maryville High School in 1956 where he distinguished himself on the varsity basketball team and he also attended The University of Tennessee. He was a member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #728 and Knoxville Scottish Rite. He became a Shriner in December of 1977 as a member of the Kerbela Temple in Knoxville, TN. He also completed several courses in the Bible Study Fellowship, Intl.(BSF) He was a member of the Army Reserves and supported the U.T. Sports Program-both Football and Basketball. He had a very successful career in automotive sales primarily with the top three car dealerships in the Knoxville-Alcoa area. His last 17 years was with Airport Cadillac in Alcoa. His favorite line of poetry was from Wm. Cullen Bryant's Thanatopsis ."Approach thy grave like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams." Kenny had the "gift of gab" and could make anyone chuckle. He will be missed . no one can take his place. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Kate Brock and his brother, Levi. Survivors include his sister, Janice and brother-in-law, Mark Leonard from Apex, NC; nephew and family Darin, Karin, and Zack Leonard of Raleigh, NC; niece and family, Lisa and Greg Schneider, Justin, Daniel, Benjamin, and Olivia from Apex, NC; niece, Deborah Lawhead and Jena from Farragut, TN; nephew, Joe Brock from Dallas, TX. Kenny had a long-time relationship with his uncle John M. Newman and very happy memories of their travels together. His uncles and aunts James and Jacquiline Newman, Lola Fogleman, Buck and Jewell Newman had a special place in his heart. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006 at Smith Mortuary with Rev. Dallas Harrell officiating with the Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 S. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Mary's Residential Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Kenneth E.
