Kathryn Bernice Smith

Kathryn Bernice Sear Smith, age 77, received her heavenly reward Tuesday, August 5, 2024. Kathy was born in Akron, Ohio, the eldest daughter of six. She retired from Akron Children’s Hospital, where she worked as the Nursing Coordinator.  She will be remembered by family and friends as a strong, brave woman, who always showed kindness. Her encouraging smiles and winks will be missed. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Rita Sear, niece Rita, and nephew Jess. She is survived by her husband Jack of 57 wonderful years: daughter, Shannon Kuhl (Eddie) of Maryville, TN; sisters, Cindy Wallenhurst (Dan) of Massillon, OH, Becky Longan (John) of Akron, OH, Christine Sayre (Gary) of East Sparta, OH; brothers, Tom Sear (Pam) of Bay Village, OH, and Dan Sear (Linda) of Visalia, CA; grandchildren, Cameron (Lucy) Kuhl of West Lafayette, IN, Matthew Kuhl and Tate Kuhl. As well as, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the Reach 1 Teach 1 mission in Honduras (a part of the Inter-American Restoration Corporation).
