Karl W. Jacobs

Karl W. Jacobs, age 90, of Maryville passed peacefully at his home on September 6, 2010 surrounded by loving family. Karl was born in Hamburg, Germany and immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island at the age of 6. He settled in Chicago and later served in the Eighth Air Force during World War II, stationed in England. He married Dorothy Caton in 1940. Together they had five children, Carol Rivera (Henry), Joan Slavin, Janice Reid (Arthur), Michael Jacobs (Pam), and Donald Jacobs. After Dorothy's death, he married Beverly Carpenter. They moved to Tennessee in 1989. They are members of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Karl was a kind and compassionate man who loved woodworking, hiking, golf, and working around the house. Karl worked at Hughes Aircraft in California for many years and finished his career at Parker-Hannifin. Karl is survived by his wife of 36 years, Beverly, his five children, and his five step children Carol Schmock (Calvin), Cheryl Godair (Dean), Tracy Isaac, Tammy Wolff, and Jeffery Carpenter (Trina). He was loved very much by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who number almost 80. Funeral services will be held at Smith Trinity Chapelon Thursday September 9 at 10am. Entombment will follow at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Sevier Heights Baptist Church Building Fund at 3232 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
