Karen Marie Moffatt

Karen Marie Moffatt, age 63 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the family home. Karen was a graduate of Sullivan Central High School in Blountville, TN and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. She was a longtime resident of Blount County and was retired from the Blount County School system after 38 years of service. Karen was dedicated to helping the students and children in the schools and made a large impact on them through the years. She loved music and dancing and toured with the performing group “Up With People”. Karen married her husband, Brett in 1985 and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed scrapbooking. Karen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Survived by her husband, Brett Moffatt; sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Maribeth Moffatt of San Jose, CA, and Daniel and Hannah Moffatt of Maryville; daughter, Laura Moffatt of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, David and Judy Baird of Springfield, MA; parents, John and Janice Baird of Canton, OH; many nieces, nephews and other family also survive. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Sandy Springs Orthodox Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Ganzevoort officiating. The interment service and burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Grandview Cemetery.
