Joe Raymond Gibson age 83 of Maryville, formerly of Madisonville, TN, died Tuesday, August 26, 2009 at Morningview Transitional Care Center. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church of Maryville. He was a Veteran of World War II also a prisoner of war in Germany for 4 months. Simply put he was a good man, who loved his family. He had a passion for Cades Cove, and loved driving the loop and seeing wildlife. He also loved to golf at Lambert Acres. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. Preceded in death by: Parents, Fred & Bertha Gibson; Brothers, JC, Bill, Clyde, Leon & Bob Gibson; Sister, Reba McDaniel. He leaves behind his family who loved him dearly, wife of 30 years, Hulah Gibson; Son & Daughter-in-law, Gary & Glenda Gibson, Mike Gibson; Daughter & Son-in-law, Carolyn & Niles Dockery, Belinda & Ted Cagle all of Madisonville, Pat & Mike Pike of Florence, KY; Grandchildren, Randy & Darrell Dockery, Kim Moser, Jennifer Fields, Angie Anderson, Joey & Amanda Gibson, Gary & Brandon Cagle; Great-Grandchildren, Dustin & Tanner Moser, Jonathon & Jacob Dockery, Mason Fields, Kylie, Kayla, Kelsie & Kellen Anderson; Brothers & Sisters, Greeley Gibson and Gordon Gibson both of Madisonville, Nancy Garrow of Marietta GA; Step-Daughters & Spouses, Barbara & Dick Maxwell, Frederick, Maryland, Donna & Charles Jennings of Knoxville, Brenda & Jim Norman of Alcoa; Step Grandchildren, Kelly Burns, Sean Keasler, Cary Burns, Mark Maxwell, Dena Altman, Terry Maxwell; Step Great-Grandchildren, Eric Burns, Brittany Burns, Tyler Burns, Sierra Keasler, Lucas Burns & Isabella Altman; Step Great-Great-Grandchildren, Carissa Burns and Mason Burns. Funeral service will be at 7:30 PM, Friday, August 29, 2008 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. David Smith and Rev. Rich Mullan officiating. Family and friends will assemble for entombment at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Sherwood Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. John United Methodist Church, 2201 E. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37804.
