Jeanne Ellen Mills, 69 years old, passed away on February 19,2026 at home. She was the fourth child of the late Benjamin Riley Mills and Dorothy Patterson Mills born on her mother’s birthday, December 16, 1956, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She graduated from Everett High School in 1975.
Jeanne was a lifelong member of Fairview Church. There she taught the adult special needs Sunday School class for years. Jeanne spent her life serving others. If anyone needed painting, upholstering, or sewing,
Jeanne would always lend a hand. She loved taking care of people. Jeanne’s life calling was in the medical field. It began at Fort Sanders Hospital checking in patients at the ER. She worked at Blount Memorial Hospital in the cardio lab. From there, her calling took her to the office of Dr. Marvin Peterson, Dr. Mark Colquitt, and Dr. Jonathan Ray.
Jeanne decided to further her education and returned to school to become an LPN. On September 28,2012, she was pinned by her brother, Jeff who shared the same profession. Dr. Melissa Trekell and her office became her next “medical” family. After Dr. Trekell retired, Jeanne joined Dr. Dominique Robinson Harris where her career ended. Jeanne felt that it was not just a calling, but each of her stops became family. She loved her time spent with “her” doctors, their staff, and patients.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald D. Mills; brother-in-law, H.C. Hartgrove; grandparents, Grady and Mae Patterson and John and Myrtle Mills.
She is survived by her sister, Becky Hartgrove; her brother, Jeff Mills and wife Linda; nephews, Todd Hartgrove, Ben Mills and his wife April, Nathan Mills and his wife Valarie; great nieces and nephews, Morgan, James and his wife, Kayla, and Madi Hartgrove, and Rush, Lottie, Greta and Abel Mills, and Oliver and Margaret Mills.
The family will celebrate Jeanne’s life on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026, at the Savannah Park Club House, 287 Savannah Park Drive, Maryville. Visitation will begin at 3:30 pm. The celebration will follow at 6:30. Dr. Jerald W. Russell will officiate the service which will include the East Tennessee Nurse Honor Guard.
