IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanette Templeton
Shope
December 22, 1935 – March 14, 2026
Memorial Service
New Providence Presbyterian Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Jeanette Templeton Shope, a devoted mother, cherished Nanny, faithful servant of her community and steadfast believer, passed away peacefully in her home on March 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love, selfless service and deep faith.
Jeanette was above all a beloved mother to her daughters, Rachel Clark and Rebecca Shope. She was always there--ready with a listening ear and open arms.
As Nanny, she poured that same boundless affection into her grandchildren--Jessica Smith, Collin Clark and Julia Borum and her precious great-grandchildren, Brooks and Nate Clark and Ava and Knox Borum. She adored each one uniquely, delighting in their laughter and treasuring their milestones.
Professionally, Jeanette dedicated 40 remarkable years to the Tennessee Department of Human Services, where she worked tirelessly to protect and advocate for the safety and well-being of children. Her co-workers and friends remember her as a selfless incredibly hardworking example--someone whose commitment inspired everyone around her. Even after her retirement, her heart for service never dimmed. She continued helping families through private adoptions and as a social worker with Home Health in Blount County.
Her deepest joy was found in her faith and her church family at New Providence, where she worshipped, served and shared with beloved friends for many years.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents Conrad and Verna Templeton, her brother Gordon Templeton and her husband, Carroll Shope. She is survived by her daughter Rachel and son-in-law Brooks Clark of Georgia; her daughter Rebecca Shope of Blount County; her grandchildren Jessica and husband Bryan Smith, Collin and wife Allison Clark and Julia and her husband Josh Borum and her great-grandchildren Brooks and Nate Clark and Ava and Knox Borum.
