Janet Ruth Thompson

 Janet Ruth Thompson, age 86, of Columbus and formerly a longtime resident of Maryville, Tennessee, died Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Kobacker House. She was born on March 28, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Andrew D. Schenck and Anne B. (Canfield) Schenck. She retired from CVS Pharmacy after many years as a pharmacy technician. When she wasn’t working, she spent most of her time going to countless ballgames, practices, and assorted sporting events. Her favorite coaches were Woody Hayes, Johnny Majors, Jimmy Campbell, and George Quarles. Janet will be dearly missed by her sons, Wayne (Janet) and Jerry (Stephanie) Thompson, both of Maryville, TN; her daughter, Mary (Mark) Garland, of Columbus; beloved grandchildren, Leah Dakota Thompson, Tyler Cade Thompson and Alaina (Josh) Gossman; great grandchildren, Marlowe Poppy and Kolben; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald M. Thompson Sr. and sisters, Betty Reline and Joanne Williams. Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Grandview Pavilion, 2316 Graves Road, Maryville, TN 37803. The Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM with Rev.
