IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
McMahan
March 29, 1945 – January 31, 2026
James (Jimmy) Caton McMahan, age 80, passed away at Blount Memorial Hospital on January 31, 2026. Jimmy was born and raised in the Wildwood community and was a 1963 graduate of Porter High School. He retired after 30 years of working at Alcoa Aluminum. He also owned and operated his own business, McMahan’s Plants and Produce. Jimmy loved nothing better than visiting with his customers, many of whom became good friends over the years.
In 2021, Jimmy was inducted into the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame in basketball. He held multiple high school scoring records both locally and state-wide. A life-long UT football and basketball fan, Jimmy attended games for as long as he was able, and there was often a game on the radio in his market on Saturday afternoons. He lived a good life defined by hard work, kindness, community, and his love for people.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clay McMahan and Stella Roberts McMahan, and his sister, Joann Wagner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia “Pat” Ruth Gregory McMahan and his two daughters, Patricia Lea McMahan and Jama McMahan (David Landers), nephews Terry Wagner (Susan) and David Wagner (Gina), as well as a large network of extended family and friends.
The Family will receive friends at Smith’ West Chapel on Thursday, February 5th from 5pm-7pm, with funeral services to follow at 7pm in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Charlie Barnard officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment on Friday, February 6th at 1pm at Grandview Cemetery.
