James Theodore (Ted) McCloud joined family, friends and his Savior Jesus in heaven on May 1, 2026. Ted never met a stranger. He was a graduate of Central High School in Fountain City. He earned undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Tennessee and was a legal graduate and fan of all things orange. He was a Letterman as manager of the football team. After marrying his wife, Patti, he was employed by the Memphis City Schools as Director of School Food Service. He served as President of the Big Orange Club Memphis. He organized a trip to the UT/LSU game for 300 big orange fans. Boarding Amtrack in Memphis, they rode to New Orleans and then bused to Baton Rouge. In the private sector, he was Vice President of Danver’s, and District Manager at Intuitional Jobbers, Inc. He taught in the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church Maryville for over 30 years. He loved to golf and made many friends in that venue. He was a gate supervisor at Newland Stadium and Thompson Boling Arena. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Johnston McCloud and their sons, Marc (Deb) and Chris; grandchildren, Rebecca, Logan, Sam and Aidan. The family thanks the staff at Clover Hill Senior Living, the staff at The Waters, sitters KJ and Katina, and the Encouragers Class at First Baptist Church. Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at First Baptist Church. Family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to: Children’s Ministry FBCM, 202 E.
