James Oneil Majors, Sr., age 87 of Townsend, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at his home. He was a member of Townsend Church of God and RIO Townsend. James was a veteran of the United States Air Force with the rank E3 and he retired from Smoky Mountain National Park. He was a long-time football coach for Townsend midget and pee wee football and a classic car enthusiast, with gas in his veins, but most importantly a dedicated family man. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Nelly Belle Majors; brothers, Bob Majors, and Harry Davis. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Majors; sons, Jimmy Majors (Shelia), Robert Majors (Jennifer), Kevin Majors; grandchildren, Brian (Asa), Anthony (Elisabeth), Chelsea (Nick), Cam, Austin, Abbey, Seaira; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Nova, Imrie, Asia, Alaina, Talin; brother, Buck Majors; sister, Genevieve Suttles; lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Smith Trinity Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Ronnie Hepperly and Pastor Dale Buchanan officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 PM for Interment Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church Cemetery.
