James Monterey Headrick, 54, passed away on November 12, 2025, leaving behind a life filled with laughter, imagination, and a touch of superhero flair.
He is survived by his mother, Cathy Cross; his brother, Johnny “John John” Headrick; and his brother and sister-in-law, Joshua and Racheal Headrick. He is also deeply missed by close family members and an entire party of incredible friends who loved adventuring through life with him.
James was known for his generous heart, sharp wit, and his ability to make any gathering more entertaining—whether he was telling a story, cracking a joke, or leading the charge in a late-night gaming session. If you sat near him at a get-together, you either ended up laughing until you couldn’t breathe or learning something weirdly fascinating from a YouTube video he “just had to show you real quick.”
An avid trail bicyclist, James tackled every hill like it owed him money. In his younger years, he was also an accomplished freestyle bicyclist, pulling off tricks that defied gravity and probably worried his mother half to death. A lifelong Batman fan, he believed justice, snacks, and well-timed sarcasm could conquer anything. As a gamer, LARPer, and dedicated Dungeons & Dragons adventurer, James could roll a natural 20 in both creativity and friendship. He also loved Robotech, proving his loyalty to the classics and his excellent taste in giant mecha.
Those who knew James will remember his warmth, his laughter, and his endless imagination. Though he’s taken his final ride here, we like to think he’s already rolled initiative on a new adventure-cape flowing, dice in hand, probably on a custom-built bike, plenty of good company at the table, and absolutely ready to cause friendly chaos.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Excelsior!
