J. N. McGuire, Jr.

J.N. (Nick) McGuire Jr. age 64 of Maryville passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 at home among family. Preceded in death by: Parents, J.N. McGuire Sr. and Kathleen McGuire. Nick has 35 plus years of experience in all aspects of banking. He currently served as Chairman and CEO of Foothills Bank and Trust. He served as President and CEO of The Home Bank of Tennessee in Maryville, TN for the past 12 years. Prior to that, he was the Regional President of First American National Bank in Maryville, TN. In 21 years with Park National Bank, Knoxville, TN, he held several positions ending as the Senior Vice President and Cashier. Mr. McGuire is a graduate of McMinn County High School in Athens, TN where he served as president of the senior class, and a 1965 graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. He was a graduate of the Tennessee School of Banking and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. In addition, Nick has attended numerous banking seminars offers by the Tennessee Bankers Association, the FDIC, and others. He was involved with numerous civic organizations including the following: Board Member of the East Tennessee Foundation, Blount Memorial Hospital Foundations, and the Pellissippi State Foundation; former Board of Directors of the Blount County Chamber of Commerce; former board member and chairman of Leadership Blount, United Way of Blount County board member and former campaign chairman; and former campaign chairman for the Boy Scouts of America fund-raising drive. Survivors include: Wife of 41 years, Dr. Jane Qualls; Son, Dr. Nick McGuire III of New York; Daughter, Dr. Staci Snyder & Son-in-law, Jon Snyder of Maryville; Grand-daughter, Evie Snyder due in July; Brother, Dr. James E. McGuire & wife Ann of Kingsport. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 1, 2007, Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 2, 2007 at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens for the entombment with Rev. Mike Hubble officiating.
