Captain George Thomas Teague

Captain George Thomas Teague, retired Airforce, passed away on August 15, 2025 at 86 years of age following a battle with dementia, with his wife by his side. Born July 11, 1939 to Wilson and Georgia Teague in Madisonville, Kentucky. He is whole now and with his Lord and Savior as well as his daughter Meg and son Greg, who preceded him in death. I’m sure they had a wonderful reunion. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne, and his sister Nancy. He was a member of 1st United Methodist Church, but he was a Baptist at heart. Tom spent 22 years in the U.S. Airforce and retired as a Captain. He also spent 22 years at Bellsouth and retired as a manager. Tom had many accomplishments in his life. He graduated from UT with a B.S. in Business and Master of Art from Tusculum College. He served on the UT Alumni Association Board of Governors, he got his private pilot’s license in 2003, he was a past president of Farragut Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, 32 degree Mason Scottish Rite. He had FCC Radio/ Telephone First Class License, worked as a disc jockey, he was apart of the Honor Guard Burial detail for President Harry S. Truman’s funeral in 1972. He was a big part of the 1956-1957 Kentucky State Football Championship as a defensive back at Madisonville High School. They went undefeated 10-0 that year. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He has a quick wit and if he liked you, he would give you a cute nickname. He had a heart of gold and so easy to love. He loved God, family, music, and the VOLS. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Trudy Cobble Teague, son; Mark Phillips (Alison), their children; Taylor (Paul) Phelan, Stirling (Cole) Solis and son Dalton, great grandchildren; Quinn Phelan and Callahan Solis all of San Antonio Texas, daughter; Sarabeth Banks of Memphis, her children Sam of Dallas, Texas; Ann Wesley of Roger’s Arkansas and Jeb of Avon, Colorado, bonus daughter Allison Daughtery and bonus grandson Drew Daughtery, both of Knoxville. He loved them like they were his own. Sister-in-law; Sara Teague of Mobile, Alabama, brother-in-law; Steve Cobble and his wife Christine of Las Vegas, two nephews and one niece of Huntsville, Alabama. One of his nephews, Mike Crumbley will hold his service. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 pm at Grandview Cemetery Veteran’s section with full military honors on Saturday August 23rd.
