Evelyn Kathryn Sims Wilson, age 87, was born on August 9, 1938, in Sevier County and passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Maryville where she lived for 58 years. Evelyn will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her love for her family, and the quiet strength and kindness she shared with everyone who knew her.
A faithful member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church for more than 50 years, Evelyn found great joy in worship and fellowship. She sang in the choir and remained actively involved through the Martha Atchley Sunday School Class and the Prime Timers, where she built lasting friendships and was known for her warm presence and servant’s heart.
Evelyn devoted her working years to supporting students, educators, and the community with professionalism and care. She served as an administrative assistant at the University of Tennessee for 15 years before continuing her career in the Blount County School System for more than 20 years, working at Porter High School, William Blount High School, and the Everett Learning Opportunity Center. She retired from Blount County Schools in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of dependable service and encouragement.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gearl Dee Wilson; her parents, L.A. and Doshia Sims; her sisters-in-law, Imogene Wilson, Pauline Phipps, and Betty Taylor; and her brother-in-law, Rick Riggio.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Brian Wilson; her daughter, Dee Anne Stallions; her son-in-law, Don Stallions; her grandchildren, Will Stallions, and his wife, Emma Stallions; her sister, Carolyn Riggio; her sisters-in-law, Julie Effler and Johnnie Garner; and special friends, Judy Graveline and Jewel Stallions.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 to 6:30 with a service following at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5th. A graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6th.
