Elva Rose Hitch

March 12, 1923 — November 8, 2006

Hitch, Elva Rose age 83 passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Shannondale Health Center. She was born in Loudon County, TN but moved to Robbinsville, NC where she grew up. Upon graduating from Robbinsville High School, she came to Maryville to work at ALCOA during World War II. In 1949 she married Ivan Hitch. Together they operated the Hitch family farm until his death and she continued that work for many years. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Blount County Farm Bureau Women and was a director of Blount County Farm Bureau for many years. Preceded in death by: Husband, Ivan Hitch; Parents, Gudger and Jessie Stewart Rose; Sisters, Bessie Rose and Mary Alice Davis. Survivors include: Daughter and Son-in-law, Susan & John Keller of Maryville; Son and Daughter-in-law, Walton & Jane Hitch of Fredricksburg, IN; Grandsons, Sam Keller & wife Shanda of Walland, Lynn Hitch of Fredricksburg, IN; Granddaughters, Margaret Emrick & husband Jeff of Bartlett, TN, Renee' Hitch of Fredricksburg, IN, and Malicia Hitch of Frankfort, KY; Sister, Berti Jo Morrell of Bluff City, TN; Great-Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isaac and Luke Keller of Walland and Reece Emrick of Bartlett. She also leaves many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorial service will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2006, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary with Rev. Barney Evans officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2006, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
