Edna Marie Johnson

Marie Johnson, 87 of Townsend passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at a local hospital. Marie is preceded in death by: husband, Claude Johnson, Jr.; son, William Ronald "Monk" Johnson; parents, Lemmie and Edna Johnson; granddaughter, Jamie Byrum Derrick; and brothers, Wayne, Roy and Jim Johnson.

 Marie was retired from Levi Strauss & Co. and she began her second career working at the visitor's center at the Cable Mill in Cades Cove and also at the visitor's center in Townsend.

 Marie is survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Barton, Karen (Roger) Sands, Robyn Buchanan, Jackie (Ronnie) Suttles; sons and daughters-in-law, Thom (Carolyn) Johnson, Bob (Robin) Johnson, Jerry (Emily) Johnson and John (Jami) Johnson; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth (Mary) Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Juanita, Helen and Norma Johnson; special friend, Joey Cable.  Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 9:00 AM, Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Hepperly officiating.
