Doyle Max Sloan Sr.

Doyle Max Sloan Sr., age 83 of Walland, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from Alcoa as a Brick Mason with 30 + years of service and was a member of the 25 Year Club. Doyle was a longtime member and deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. He loved spending time with his family and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Sloan; brother, Jimmy Sloan; and grandmother, Lydia Hatcher. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn Ann Sloan; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Randy Powers of Whitehouse, TN and Debby and Jeff Curtis of Walland; son and daughter-in-law, Max and D’Rhonda Sloan of Walland; grandchildren and their spouses, Misty and Brandon Abele of Maryville, Corey Sloan of Walland, Jeremy and Jennifer Sloan of Maryville, James and Hannah Powers of New York, Jessica and Chris Murray of Boling Green, and Bryce Sloan of Walland; 5 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Betty Lentes of Detroit, MI; special friend, Bill Sexton of Rocky Branch; many nieces, nephews, and other family also survive. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. A celebration of Doyle’s life will follow at 12:30 PM with Rev. Greg Long officiating. The interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
