Doris Reeves Samples

Doris Samples, 98, left her earthly body peacefully on the morning of May 17, 2025. She had many accomplishments but was recently proud of being the last living member of her 1945 class at Alcoa High School, where she was valedictorian. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Samples, and her beloved son, Steve Samples, along with her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her caregiver and niece Anita Storey, her husband Jim Storey, and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to give extra thanks and appreciation to the staff at Fairpark Health and Rehabilitation and UT hospice for the care Mrs. Samples received in her last years of life. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. All who loved her are welcome to attend. Donations can be made in her honor to the Blount County Animal Center, an organization she and her son were so passionate about.
